How to Correctly Assemble Trampoline Springs

Trampolines are a lot of fun and can last for a long time. Keep in mind, assembling them correctly is very important for them to last. You may need to remove your trampoline jump mat occasionally for repair, replacement or, for outdoor trampolines, to store during adverse weather. 

When it comes time to reinstall the jump mat, you'll need to assemble the springs properly. Although putting the springs back on takes a little arm muscle, you can make the task much easier by putting the springs on in the correct order reducing tension.

How to Correctly Assemble Trampoline Springs

  1. Spread the trampoline jump mat centered in the metal frame opening. For outdoor trampolines, you may want it to sit in the sun for a while as the warmth makes it stretchier and a little easier to install.
  2. Insert a spring, hook side down, into one of the trampoline mat's v-rings or spring loops. Insert the other hook of the spring into a hole in the trampoline frame.
  3. Next, on the opposite side of the trampoline, insert a spring, hook side down, into the v-ring. Pull back with a spring tool and insert the other hook of the spring into the trampoline frame.
  4. Now, position yourself midway between the two attached springs, on either side of the trampoline. Insert a spring, hook side down, into the v-ring centered between the two attached springs. Pull back with a spring tool and insert the other hook of the spring into the trampoline frame. Repeat this step again. See picture below for correct numerical order.


Continue working around the frame, attaching springs at every middle v-ring, until you are back at the starting point. This will allow the tension to be spread evenly throughout the jump mat and springs. This is very important for the mat and springs not to get distorted from too much tension on one side.



The use of a spring tool is also highly recommended. As you attach more springs, it will become more difficult to pull the springs from the v-rings back to the frame holes. If your trampoline didn't come with one, or you lost it, you can can insert a spring in the v-ring, and then attach another spring to the loose end of the spring. Pull back on the second spring, using your body as a weight, until the hook of the first spring reaches the frame hole.
